There are tons of news articles and rumors swirling about Chelsea right now, and as we head into the final weeks of the transfer window, that seems likely to increase.
Maurizio Sarri maybe Chelsea’s new manager, but Antonio Conte is bagging all the headlines on Friday morning.
Conte lead Chelsea to the Premier League in his first season and then the FA Cup in his second campaign, but was replaced this summer.
On Friday, Matt Hughes, usually a good source for Chelsea news, reports in The Times that “Antonio Conte is taking legal action against Chelsea, including the claim that he deserves to be compensated for loss of future earnings and the damage to his career caused by the club’s delay in sacking him.”
Conte is effectively launching legal action as it took Chelsea so long to sack him.
The Italian manager is due compensation of 9 million pounds but is arguing that the Chelsea delay has cost him a position elsewhere.
Conte is expected to claim that he missed out on jobs with Real Madrid and Italy, despite Chelsea knowing they would eventually sack him.
Hughes adds: “Chelsea have threatened to withhold the final year of his contract due to alleged irregular conduct and repeated criticism of his employers during his second season at Stamford Bridge.”
